New Face at Spitshine Records; New Grillo Songs; Free Live MP3s From the King Cheetah

Introducing Corey Hallsted
It's a pleasure to announce a new partner here at Spitshine Records, Corey Hallsted. If you've read the liner notes of the Best Revenge Starts With You album, then Corey's name should ring a bell - he was the engineer and co-producer of that record. In addition, the recording was done at his studio in Seattle, WA, where he resides (and drinks lots of coffee). Read more about Corey in the Spitjournal. Welcome Corey!

Brian Grillo's New Noise
A while back, we reported that Brian Grillo had assembled a new band. That turned out to be all lies and innuendo, which we try not to traffic in here, but, hey, it was a slow news week (and, at least we didn't spend a week talking about Jon Benet Ramsey). Grillo is still technically band-less, but he is busy working on new songs with Geraldine Fibbers bassist Bill Tutton in Tutton's home studio. A sneak preview of the songs revealed a departure from Grillo's solo release, Stomping Back on Fire, with the songs referencing everything from Stooges-style punk rock to psychedelia to funk. No word yet on when the songs will be released. Keep your fingers crossed!

HOT N HEAVY and THE SHARP EASE SET TO RELEASE SPLIT 7"
7" will include two new songs from each band

Spitshine Records is pleased to announce the upcoming release of a split 7" by the Sharp Ease and Hot N Heavy. The April 2004 release will mark the recording debut of Hot N Heavy and a continuance of the hot sounds that the Sharp Ease have been kicking at us for a while (remember the T-Spin 7"?)

Rudy Bleu of Hot N Heavy had this to say about the project:
"What more could Hot N' Heavy ask for?  A split seven inch with a band who are not only amazing musicians/artists, but who are also friends, on a label that is very young but also brave and takes chances like the man behind it Ryan Revenge.  Hot N'Heavy are so excited we keep doing the Cabbage Patch."

The Sharp Ease are reportedly doing the Running Man.

KING CHEETAH TO RELEASE AMERICAN DEBUT ON SPITSHINE

King Cheetah toured with Morrissey last year, who has been quoted as saying that they're the best support band he's ever toured with. Stay tuned for more. Much more.

BRIAN GRILLO & SPITSHINE
LA legend to release first solo record

Brian Grillo (of Extra Fancy, the Glitter Panthers) will record a debut record to be released on Spitshine in the coming year. This is a proud moment for Spitshine, considering Grillo is one of the inspirational artists that sparked Spitshine.

The album promises to be a personal and intimate journey with a punk boy singing the blues. You ride shotgun. Grillo will drive.

No release date has yet been set.
